Our Presenters:

Emilie Bridon and Erika Takeuchi are best friends who have traveled the world together. Being French (Emilie) and Japanese-American (Erika), exploring new places, appreciating different cultures, and getting outside their comfort zone is intertwined with who they are and their own personal growth. They miss travel like crazy, and created TROVE, an original travel subscription box, to bring authentic cultural experiences from around the world to your home while supporting small businesses worldwide. They have a combined 30+ years of digital and traditional marketing experience at Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.

Company Description:

Launched in 2020 by best friends and Co-Founders Emilie Bridon and Erika Takeuchi, TROVE is a specialty subscription and gift box for the travel-lover. Born out of a love of discovery, each box takes TROVE Travelers to a new city, immersing them in the culture through multiple hands-on experiences led by experts of the region as well as an assortment of locally sourced foods and goodies. TROVE releases one new box every quarter and 20% of company profits are donated back to the featured small businesses to aid in lifting up the local artisans that graciously invite travelers into their shops, homes, and restaurants to share their passion, trade, and culture.

The Business Challenge

Two words: growth hack!

Their biggest challenge to date is driving cost effective customer acquisition at scale without spending millions on Facebook ads. They have received great feedback and reviews from early subscribers and have seen a high retention rate. They also had a strong holiday / gift giving season where they saw their subscriber base really start to expand.

However, they have not been as successful at acquiring new customers through “at scale” channels such as paid search and social media advertising. They would love our community's help with identifying new and optimizing existing “at scale” sales channels to drive customer acquisition, and would welcome other unique ways to get the word out about TROVE in a scrappy and efficient way (e.g. collabs with other brands).

This Month's Reviewers

Christy Palazzo:  Christy understands small business growing pains and handles these unique challenges with smarts and grace.  She has a proven record of start-up company development and more specifically, helping companies meet and surpass their sales goals.  Talk about "been there and done that" - in her 2019 Profit Matters appearance, Christy was presenting her own company growth challenge.  Now, in oh, so cool fashion, she is stepping up and giving back.  Way to rock it, Christy!

Niki Koubourlis:  An accomplished executive, thought leader, strategist and Profit Matters alumni, Niki is one cool lady. She left the high-power and high-pressure life of high-finance, investments and global corporate strategy to rediscover and reinvent herself around passion-based interests and community. She is now the Founder & CEO of Bold Betties - a brand, community and resource for women pursuing a life of adventure.   Niki has done it all – from big to small, coast to coast, and beyond.  She knows what it takes to grow a global business, build one from scratch, and nurture a budding community of amazing women.  She lives life on her terms - boldly and fully.  Through Bold Betties, she has helped thousands of women take that first step towards the new, and sometimes scary world of the outdoor adventure and personal empowerment.

Jamie Adler:  Jamie is one cool entrepreneur.  She is an unassuming, but highly-effective leader with a portfolio of success orchestrating the start-up, growth, and organization of tech products, teams and organizations.  She rocks analysis and business process building and scaling - with a gift for distilling a broad array of data, ideas and people into a focused product, process or strategy built for adoption, efficiency, and mission-success.
